Chapter 91 Old Friends
- A month and two weeks after she gave birth to her daughter, Becca resumed work. It was not the same without Sandra, of course, and Becca missed her friend so much that at first, she was finding it difficult to concentrate, especially since the new teacher who had been hired to take Sandra’s place turned out to be a snob, who treated Becca with condescension, but she had no choice but to adapt and ignore the woman in turn. As she had known, things were not the same between her and Sandra, despite the fact that they still lived in the same city, only in different parts. It was almost as though she was now forcing her friendship on Sandra and the latter sort of seemed to be nervous each time Becca came over, so much so that Becca had begun to think that she had to stop going over so much. It was just that Sandra had made her promise to visit every weekend, and since Becca had no other friend apart from Dan, who was almost always busy, she had taken up Sandra on that offer.
- Her haywire hormones were not helping matters either. Officially, she was now free to have sex all she wanted, but now that it was time, she felt weird meeting Dan for sex. How on earth were they supposed to do that? Should she just jump him and corner him into having sex with her? It was all so weird, which was no surprise since she had had sex with only two men in her life before, Ryan and Peter. Actually, she would have very much preferred it if Dan made the first move, but she hardly ever saw him since Sandra moved out. He was gone every morning before she woke up and came back most nights after she had gone to sleep, so they hardly ever saw themselves. It was the same thing during the weekends.
- Needless to say, he never came to knock on her door just to chat, as he used to do again. Becca did not understand this attitude but chalked it up to the fact that he probably missed his sister and nephew and seeing her reminded him of them, so he was trying to avoid her. However, she could not resist the voice at the back of her head that kept insisting that he probably didn’t find her attractive any longer. That Saturday, she was so bored and lonely that despite her resolve not to visit Sandra so often, she decided to visit her anyway. Picking up her phone, she dialed the latter’s number.
