Chapter 182 Aftermath (Two)
- She felt for a pulse and found one, albeit it was very faint, but its presence spurred her into action. She got up on wobbly knees and tried to pick up the child, but she was shaking too badly and her eyes were blurred by tears of fear and regret. Ryan would never forgive her for this, she knew. Suddenly, it wasn’t his forgiveness that mattered to her the most, but Emma’s survival. If giving up Ryan meant that his daughter would be okay, then she would gladly give him up. She would not be able to live with herself if anything happened to the child.
- The next few minutes were a blur of activities that Tracy barely remembered. Alex appeared at the top of the stairs at the same time that Margie bustled in from her room, or the kitchen, or wherever Taylor had gone to get her from. Everyone was crying or shouting, but through it all, Emma remained motionless and unmoving. Someone called 911, and before long, Emma was being taken to the hospital, with Margie going with her. Tracy, Taylor, and Alex followed in a car that was driven by one of Ryan’s drivers. Tracy got Becca’s number from Taylor and called her to tell her the news in a shaky tone. To her surprise, Becca didn’t yell or anything. She simply asked questions about what had happened and where Emma had been taken to, then said that she was on her way immediately. Margie called Ryan herself and told him the news.
