• “I understand, Becca.” Dan encouraged her when she paused.
• “The only catch was that I would have sex with him, which I did and he paid for the surgery and even gave me more money than Toby needed for the surgery. We started dating, at which point I began to suspect him because he was too rich for his position in Ryan’s company. I mean, Ryan is a great employer and makes sure to pay his staff mouth-watering salaries, but even then, Peter was too wealthy with what I knew his salary was. When I asked him, he made some excuse, which I accepted because deep down, I was not yet ready to find out who he really was, plus I was beginning to be really scared of him. He used to beat me up, something that would worsen later on, and he never failed to remind me that I owed my brother’s life to him.
