Chapter 126 Five Years On (Two)
- He would still be alive, and would probably be trading stories of how his day went with his sister, and telling Ryan about who had done what and what had happened to whom. Every day, he missed Tyler’s smile and cute little face a little less, and that made him carry this guilt that felt as heavy as the weight of the whole world with him. He inwardly blamed everyone for Tyler’s death. Angela, for being so stupid and evil as to kidnap Taylor and complicate the custody case. He blamed himself for even dating an airhead like Angela in the first place, and somehow, for not fighting harder for the kids, even though there was nothing he could have done that he hadn’t done.
- He also blamed himself for not insisting harder that they child-proof the pool. He had brought up the topic twice and had offered to provide the funds for it but Anna had waved his help away, saying that he didn’t have to give them money for everything.
- It was not an expensive thing, she said, and they could sure as hell afford to do it on their own, so he had left the topic, not wanting them to think he was overbearing. They were allowing him to pop in and see the kids anytime he wanted and he sure as hell wanted to keep being in their good graces. If he had insisted instead of kissing their asses, maybe Tyler would still be alive.
