Chapter 35 Friends
- The teaching job at the school was one that Becca enjoyed a lot, despite the fact that she was not so familiar with kids. She taught the 2nd grade and quickly fell in love with the kids, as they did with her. It was such a huge relief and pleasure not to have to sit at home every day from morning to night, that Becca wondered how she had managed to survive doing that for so long without running out of her mind. She was now in the middle of the fifth month of her pregnancy and was seriously thinking of starting to buy baby clothes.
- It was weird to think how time flew by. She was beginning to show now, and her clothes were starting to get really tight, so she not only had to shop for her baby but also for herself too. Sandra was such a godsend. The woman helped her out in so many ways and gave her helpful tips whenever she was overwhelmed. They had fast become friends, and Becca was now very glad that their paths had crossed. The woman's husband was another matter entirely. Nowadays, he was rarely home, and Becca only saw him in passing once in a while. On these occasions, he was not near enough for them to have to speak to each other, which was just fine, as far as Becca was concerned.
- He seemed to be actively avoiding her, and for this, Becca was more than relieved, as she had no wish to jeopardize her newfound friendship with Sandra. If Sandra noticed the hostility between the two of them, she never let on that she did. In fact, she hardly ever mentioned Dan, and neither did Becca. Maybe the woman knew just what her husband was capable of, and had an inkling that he was flirting with Becca. Becca would never know because as far as she was concerned, it was not her place to inform Sandra about her husband’s philandering ways.
