Chapter 79 Kidnap (Two)

• The evidence that Peter presented to Ryan in a desperate bid to implicate someone else alongside himself and not go down alone was, quite convincing at least, at the time, or so Ryan had thought, and in his anger, he had had Craig give him the divorce papers that he had gotten a few weeks after Becca had a miscarriage, early in their marriage. After all, he had married her because she was pregnant, when they hardly knew themselves, talk more of loving each other, and now, there was no child, so what was the point in remaining saddled to each other? However, he had decided to hold off on divorcing her then, because he had felt that it would be too cruel to do that soon after she had a miscarriage, and then somehow, he had kept postponing doing it, because he liked having her around, and she had seemed to enjoy being with him too.
• All that was until the whole spectacle that day, and so he had called Craig and asked if he still had the papers, demanding that he made the divorce process as fast as possible, and not even bothering to listen to Craig’s pleas that he should calm down and explain what the matter was. If he had had his way, he would not have let anyone know what had happened but would have quietly divorced Becca and moved on with his life. However, tongues were bound to wag, as he wasn’t alone that day, plus Peter had made sure to sing as loud as a bird to anyone who cared to listen, so the whole thing had leaked, and Becca had been disgraced before the whole media. Ryan hadn't defended her either but had kept mute.
• Now, he had found out that she was innocent, and she probably hated him more than she had ever hated anyone in this life, while he was here stuck thinking about her, even when he had had no idea that she was innocent. Maybe all that he was going through right now, and ever since Becca left was his punishment, and he was bound to suffer for the rest of his life. He wasn’t by any means a superstitious fellow, but he liked to think that he had suffered enough. He would gladly give all that he had so that the twins remained with him, at least. After losing Meghan, Craig, and Becca, Tyler and Taylor were the only reasons that he still had to live, as far as he was concerned, and losing them would damn near kill him.
