Chapter 34 A Sad Ending (Two)
- “I haven’t really slept since I got the news. I’ve tried, but each time I try to sleep, I have nightmares in which they all die, and I wake up, then torment myself by going from room to room to check if they are still alive.” Ryan admitted sheepishly.
- “I’ll prescribe something to help you sleep. Try to sleep, okay. You’ll need to be well-rested in the coming days.” The man said sympathetically, and something in his tone alerted Ryan.
- “Doctor, I need you to tell me the plain truth. I don’t need any false hopes. Are my sister and brother-in-law going to make it out of this alive?” Ryan asked in no-nonsense tones, even though his heart was beating a mile per minute at the thought of the answer he would get. The doctor sighed deeply and then released his breath slowly, before looking Ryan in the eye and speaking.
