Chapter 132 Summoning Courage (One)
- For some time now, Becca had become increasingly troubled about the fact that she was keeping the knowledge of Ryan’s child away from him. She didn’t know the reason why she felt this way, considering the fact that in the beginning, she didn’t give a rat’s ass about whether he deserved to know about his child or not.
- Maybe it was because Emma was away, for the first time in her almost seven years on earth and Becca had all the time on her hands and little to do with it, that she felt this way. Maybe it was the increasingly uncomfortable feeling that she had about lying to her friends, who were practically now her and Emma’s family all these years. Maybe it was because Emma was growing very rapidly, and Becca did not want to continue spinning lies upon lies. After all, it stood to reason that the child would want to see her father’s pictures and stuff like that sooner or later. What was Becca going to tell her when she asked for stuff like that? After all, this was the digital age, and there was no way Emma’s father could just die and nothing would be left of him. If she showed Emma Ryan’s picture, what was the guarantee that one day, she would not see him on the internet or on the news, and then she would know that Becca had lied to her?
- Becca was not really sure what it was, but one thing was clear and that was the fact that it was high time she decided on what to do. She thought about how Ryan would take the news and shuddered. That was a scene she wished she could avoid, but it wasn’t a possibility. For days after Emma and Alex left for camp, Becca remained indoors, troubled beyond words. What if something happened to her? Ryan was in the best position to take care of Emma, and she knew this as surely as she knew her own name. It wasn’t just because of his money, after all, she was also quite rich and could take care of Emma very comfortably. Despite how she had lied to herself in the past about how Ryan might not want his child, which was the reason she told herself that she would not inform him that she was pregnant, Becca knew that there was no way Ryan would deny his own flesh and blood.
