Chapter 102 Confession (Two)

• People advised me to butt out and not be overbearing, and I tried to do that, but it was horrible thinking about the person you loved most in the world being abused, yet you couldn’t do anything about it. A few weeks after she went back to him, he got into a fight, broke someone’s head with a bottle, and was arrested. He spent some months in jail, after which he was released, and came back home to continue his abuse. I’ve tried everything possible to get her to leave him, but nothing’s working. It’s always been the same cycle of she going back to him, he beats her up and she runs away, only to go back to him, claiming that he has changed until he beats her up and she runs away again. I pray she realizes what she’s doing before it’s too late. I’ve tried reporting him to the police a number of times, but he always gets back out, and she refuses to press charges against him. I won’t be surprised if she shows up soon again.”
• “Damn it. I never knew that she was going through all this.” Becca said, wondering if he was going to continue with his story, but he did not look like he was going to. He probably felt like it was not in his place to tell her his sister’s whole story.
• “It’s okay. Anyway, enough about me and Sandra. How about we talk about me and you?” Dan asked, shifting Emma to his other lap. Becca could feel her heart start to beat faster at this question.
