Chapter 148 Blissful Ignorance (Two)

• Emma stood behind the closed door, chattering happily, blissfully unaware that her mother wasn’t listening to a single word she was saying.
• Once Becca got out, she called Sandra to ask if she had some drugs that could help since Dan would not be home yet and the former replied in the affirmative. Soon, Sandra arrived and gave Becca the medicine, after which they rushed down to the venue of the party for last-minute preparations before the guests began to arrive. Dan came over from his shift at the hospital while they were doing that and began welcoming the little guests who had arrived early.
• “Listen, I have to go back home and freshen up. I’ll be back in a jiffy, okay?” Becca told them after she finished what she was doing and went home to have a much-needed bath and take an aspirin for the slight headache, which was gradually developing into a full-blown one. Once she had left, Sandra and some of the staff that they hired took over everything, while Dan welcomed the guests, all of whom were dropped off by their parents.
