• Becca could feel her heart pounding in her chest as the pastor droned on and on. She could feel Ryan’s penetrating gaze even more acutely, but she dared not raise her head up to look at him again. She could sense the tenseness in Trevor who was sitting beside her, and she knew that he had noticed how Ryan was staring at Becca, almost as though he was pleading for her to help him, but that was absurd. It was because of Ryan that they had even fought in the first place.
