Chapter 8 Jackson Pov
- The carriage ride had been awfully quiet.
- Amelia either wasn't the talking type or she was just flat-out ignoring me. I knew she wasn't too thrilled about my proposal but I am certain that she is my mate. Her heart is still closed off due to the rejection she faced at the hands of Eliot's idiotic brother, Crane. Why reject such a nice girl with good qualities? Amelia was very pretty. Whenever she stared at me, there was this certain intensity in them. She was the first girl I had seen who wasn't too thrilled about my proposal. Ladies always bowed to my feet but I wasn't really interested in any of them, making Eliot start rumors that I possibly swung the other way. He was trying to rile me up but I didn't give him that satisfaction. He was just a childish Alpha. He may be older than me in age but he lacks leadership qualities. His brother would have been a better candidate for the Alpha of the Crescent pack but such tragedy had to befall him making Eliot the next Alpha. I am glad I took my mate away from that awful pack that was mistreating her even if she isn't looking too happy to be in a foreign place with the scowl that had been on her face ever since we left Eliot and Lydia's wedding. Or was it because Crane stopped her? I wonder what he told her that added to her already foul mood. I knew even if I asked, she wasn't going to tell me. She looks like someone who didn't share her emotions with anyone but is likely to bottle it up but I was going to change that about Amelia. I was going to make her open up to me and trust me because she needed someone by her side.
- "Are you okay? You look tense. Just relax," I placed my hands on top of hers and she snapped her head towards me, looking at my face before averting her eyes towards my hands.
