Chapter 72 Jackson's Pov
- Standing by the window staring at the stars that fill the sky, made me feel a little better. I was envious of them. They didn't have to worry about enemies or families falling apart. They Illuminated light. When I was little, I always watched the stars with my Father, especially when we went for a midnight run, when he was training me on how to become an Alpha, knowing that one day this weighty responsibility would be passed on to me, even though I didn't expect it to come sooner. I thought my Father would stay for a long time and that I would grow up, marry, and have children before I would even become the Alpha but I guess the Moon goddess had other plans since Father wasn't even here for a long time. I needed him now more than ever. We are falling apart slowly especially Athena and Simon, they no longer had the strong bond they had with each other growing up. They were always at each other's throats, it was like I couldn't even control my family anymore. I don't know what is going on with Simon lately but he has been acting weird and completely out of control, barging into my room like some crazy person. I didn't read too much meaning into that but blatantly telling Athena that she wasn't part of this family, that was just low and unacceptable. What the hell was he thinking? This would affect all of us. I have been trying so hard to get my baby sister back to her normal self.
- First was Amelia leading her into committing a gruesome murder, at least she didn't know about Athena's sickness and what she was diagnosed with but Simon was a different case. He knew what his sister was going through, the demons that chased her, the constant nightmares that she had. I worry a lot about Athena but she has told me countless times that she would get better and that I wouldn't have to worry about her anymore, she would help me free myself of the burden, but I never saw Athena as a burden instead I loved her dearly. I have always wanted a sister and Athena was very precious to me. I made a promise to my father to always look after her and I will stick to that promise.
- Simon was clearly out of line. Throwing in her face that she wasn't part of this family was really unacceptable and if he wasn't my brother, I would have whipped him so hard. Athena had always felt like an outsider, I'd seen the look on her face before she left the dining room and it was just enough to prove my point. She was growing tired of the constant reminder that she wasn't part of this family but I think it hurts even more coming from Simon, her brother who she looked up to.
