Chapter 44 Simon's Pov

• Something was bothering Jackson. He looked distracted these days. Whenever we were talking about our mission and finding out who was selling information to the Councilmen, he seemed to be distracted a lot, could always be, but even that enough, his forehead always seemed to crease a lot these days, and that happens whenever Jackson is stressed. I have asked him what seems to be the problem, but he always answers that it was just stress from being the Alpha.
• The Alpha meeting has never given him this much problem. He is the strongest Alpha, and no one dares question his leadership. So why was this particular meeting giving him a problem? If only father was alive then this burden wouldn't be on him. When Father died, I thought he would break down since he was exceptionally close to Father but instead, he was there for Athena and me. He made sure he protected her from all harmful talks about her not being part of the family, and he made sure that he was always there for me as well. I was just a young boy who was rebellious and angry at the world for taking away my parents, but instead of Jackson viewing me as a lost cause, he was there for me.
• Sometimes we fight, which is normal in a family, there must be a rift. I know it has something to do with Athena, who has been acting strange for the past few days. I try to talk to her, but she always brushes me aside. Athena has always been closer to Jackson than me. We always seem to bicker, but we have much in common. Even now, she has grown up to be a beautiful lady despite being hotheaded. Any guy who will love Athena and have her as a girlfriend, wife, or even a mate is one lucky person.
