Chapter 6 Jackson Pov
- I don't know what I was doing but something was so special about her. first of all, I thought she was my mate but if she was, she was supposed to feel it too, right? She is meant to feel the love I feel as well. After the talk I had with her this morning, I was really reconsidering the thought of her being my mate and the marriage.
- Oliva came in right after her and bowed like always.
- “Did you find anything?” I asked him.
- “She was brought here when she was a child and has worked here ever since. There is no trace of her family or her pack. Many of them think that she was abandoned by her pack.”
- I already know that. I want to know more. I sighed. “Anything else.”
- “Yes. I heard she had a mate.”
- I turned. “She had a mate?”
- “Yes. Apparently, it was the alpha’s brother.”
- “Crane?”
- “Yes, alpha.”
- I took a deep breath. “What happened?”
- “He rejected her on the day of the ritual.”
- Is that why she can’t feel what I feel? “Any reason?” I asked him.
- “None given. All I know is that he rejected her that day.”
- Everything started making sense to me now. She didn’t feel the way I felt because she was still grieving over her rejected mate. I didn’t know how I should feel at that moment. Should I feel happy and thankful that he rejected her or should I feel sad that she might never feel the same way I feel because she loves someone else? I was just so confused at that moment.
- “Alpha, are you still going to go through with this wedding?”
- “We will see. Did you prepare my gift?”
- “Yes. Alpha. it is ready. We just need your signal.’
- I waited in my room, watching the preparations. I saw her from time to time. She looked so pretty; with her black, long, slick hair that is always tied in a bun though she let it down last night and her dazzling gray eyes that looked like the full moon. I just couldn't take my eyes off her.
- When it was time for the wedding, I came down and sat at the back. Don’t worry, I had no intention of stopping this wedding. It had to happen. Besides, I don’t poke my nose into people’s business. Eliot was standing there at the altar waiting for his bride to walk down the aisle. I remembered what Amelia said. I didn’t want to stop this wedding because the only way this pack will learn is if it happens to them.
- The bride walked down to the altar and said her vows and announced that she is the new Luna of Crescent moon. Everyone clapped as they both walked out of the venue as a married couple. Eliot started shaking all the wolves that came. When it was my turn, he shook me and said, “Thanks for coming. You didn’t drop any present, didn’t you get any?”
- “Don’t worry, it is on its way.”
- During the reception. I watched as a lot of people came to congratulate the happy couple. I didn’t want to be a party pooper so I kept my mouth shut. I looked round and I couldn’t see Amelia. I gave Drake a signal to go look for her because I will be leaving soon. Because I am an alpha, I sat next to the couple.
- “Jackson, I am still waiting for my gift.” Eliot said.
- I gave him a small smile and grabbed a glass and a fork to grab everyone’s attention.
- “I want to congratulate the couple on their marriage. I hope they are happy.” Everyone applauded.
- “For a long time now, Eliot has been asking me to get a mate. I don’t want to make this about me but on coming for his wedding I found the one. I found my mate. Eliot, thank you for inviting me and helping me find my bride.”
- People started to murmur. I turned and saw Eliot’s face go cold. What did he expect me to give him as a gift? A house, we are enemies stupid!
- “I present to you my mate and soon to be the Luna of Blood moon pack, Amelia.”
- The spotlight was shunned on the entrance and Amelia came in wearing the blue dress I bought for her. I made sure the maids cleaned her up nicely. She looks better that way. She walked up to the stage as people stood up and clapped. I turned and looked at Eliot and his brother. They were both shocked but his bride looked jealous and angry. It made me so happy.
- Amelia came and stood beside me. She looked nervous.
- “I introduce you to my mate and bride, Amelia.” I said to the crowd and she bowed. Everyone clapped.
- “Are you okay?” I asked her. “You looked a little pale.”
- “I am fine. I am just scared.”
- I held her hand and looked at her. “You will be fine. I am here.”
- She gave me a little smile.
- “Eliot, congratulations on your wedding and thank you. We will be leaving now.” I said and was about to leave when he yelled, “that can’t happen!”
- “That can’t happen!” he yelled
- I turned, “And why not?”
- “She is mine. She is part of my pack so she is mine.” He shouted.
- I looked at him. I looked at them all. They looked distressed. “But she isn’t yours Eliot.”
- “What do you mean?”
- “She isn’t part of your pack. you found her when she was little and took her in. You didn’t do any right or make her part of your pack formally which means she is not part of you.”
- Eliot looked at me with some much anger in his eyes. He walked straight to me and raised his hand but his brother stopped him.
- “Eliot, we are in public. People are watching. What will they think?” Crane asked.
- Eliot looked round and saw people murmuring and looking at him. He pushed Crane away and walked out.
