Chapter 99 Uncertain Anticipation

• After her husband dropped her off at the Pet Clinic, Monique immediately headed to her office. Seated in her swivel chair in front of her desk, she reached into her bag to grab her cellphone and called her friend Shana. She wanted Shana to accompany her to the OB-GYN for a check-up. She needed to confirm whether she was pregnant or not to ease her anxieties. Even earlier at home, she had been extremely cautious, instructing her husband to drive slowly. Though he didn't ask why, he followed her request. Monique wanted to ensure her safety and the baby's, if she was indeed pregnant.
• Monique dialed Shana's number. It rang three times before Shana answered.
