Chapter 11 Unintended Offense

• "Babe, I just need to get something upstairs."
• Monique looked at Joshua as he spoke beside her. She was still at the Shaw's house. After having dinner, Clarinda had invited them to the living room to continue their conversation. After about half an hour, the couple excused themselves, saying they needed to change their clothes. That left the three of them—Jacob, Joshua, and herself. Jacob had stepped outside to get some fresh air, leaving her alone with Joshua.
• Monique nodded when their eyes met. "Okay," she replied. Joshua kissed her on the forehead before getting up from his seat on the sofa. She followed him with her gaze as he walked away.
