• As Monique emerged from the bedroom upon their arrival at her husband's condo, she immediately called Clarinda to inform her that they wouldn't be able to make it to the family dinner due to her husband's illness.
• Clarinda answered her call after three rings. "Oh, Monique, are you on your way?" Clarinda asked immediately, her voice tinged with excitement, clearly looking forward to seeing them.
• Monique briefly bit her lower lip before speaking. "I'm sorry, Ma," she quickly apologized. "We won't be able to make it; Joshua isn't feeling well," she explained, sharing the reason they couldn't attend the family dinner. "I apologize for not informing you sooner. Joshua and I were already on our way home when he told me about his condition."
