Chapter 23 Counting Down The Days

• Monique's gaze shifted to the floor when she noticed that Cocoa was waiting for her outside her room as usual when she woke up in the morning. It had become a daily routine for Cocoa to be stationed by the door, seemingly anticipating her exit. Monique bent down to pick up her pet, a Shih Tzu, and lovingly stroked its furry head.
• Moments later, her attention shifted to the side when she heard Lucky, Jacob's Doberman, bark. Joshua had entrusted Lucky to her care while he was away on a business conference in Singapore. Lucky was a well-behaved dog, and Monique had initially hesitated to bring him into her condo, fearing that Lucky and Cocoa might not get along. However, to her relief, the two dogs had become fast friends, as if they had known each other for a long time.
• Joshua's words about how quickly time passed were proven true. It felt like just yesterday when he had bid her farewell, explaining that he would be in Singapore for a week due to a business conference. Yet now, four days had already passed, and he would be returning in just two days.
