As Monique entered their room, she felt like a candle burning out. Every moment felt like her strength was slipping away. Her steps seemed heavy as she walked towards the bed. Her shoulders slumped as she sat down at the edge.
She couldn't help but feel sorry for her twins. Their planned trip to the mall had been canceled because of her. She lost all interest in going to the mall when she unexpectedly saw Amy at the church earlier. She hadn't expected to see her there, and she didn't know why Amy was in the same place she was.
Because of their past, she had cut ties with Amy. It was one of the reasons she was suffering now, one of the reasons she had distanced herself.
