Chapter 98 Unspoken Words

• Monique jolted awake when she felt a strange churning in her stomach. She felt like she was about to vomit, and she hurriedly got out of bed and rushed into the en-suite bathroom. Once inside, she leaned over the sink and retched, although it was mostly just saliva. Despite having just woken up, she felt exhausted.
• Afterward, Monique turned on the faucet and rinsed her mouth. When she finished, she left the bathroom but then paused as a realization hit her. She couldn't help but widen her eyes at the thought that crossed her mind. Monique quickened her pace back to the bed but walked more slowly when the thought fully registered. She sat down on the edge of the bed and reached for her cellphone, which was on the bedside table. She opened the calendar app on her phone and checked something.
• Monique's eyes widened even further as she counted the days. Her monthly period was almost two weeks late. Could she be pregnant? She pondered this possibility, thinking back to the unusual sensations she'd experienced lately: her unusual mood swings, her sudden craving for chocolate, and her emotional outbursts. All of these had been foreign to her before, and she attributed them to being pregnant. Her current bout of morning sickness seemed to support that idea.
