• When we arrived back at the pack house everyone shifted and quickly dressed so that we could eat. Frannie sat at the table we had been at prior to the run and made no move to get herself a plate, so I filled mine with enough for the two of us. “I got us a plate to share,” I said as I sat down beside her.
• “I’m not very hungry, Kieran,” she murmured, and I could tell by her tone she was fighting back tears.
• “Frannie, my love, you need to eat. We didn’t have dinner tonight and you’ll need your strength for when your heat comes,” I said softly.
