- I never meant for the conversation between us to get so heavy and despite a few smiles here and there, I could see that his eyes were still haunted by the past. I don’t know what made me say what I did, other than I wanted to try to make him happy. “Kieran, you didn’t ask what you would have had to pay if you lost,” I said.
- He turned his head and squinted his eyes with a mock scowl. “Well for the sake of curiosity, what would I have owed you if I had lost?” he snickered.
- I leaned over, gave him a quick soft kiss and started to lean back before his arm went around my waist and pulled me onto his lap. “Let’s pretend that I did lose,” he said and crushed his lips to mine.
