Chapter 70
- Marilyn's POV
- "Sooner or later, you're going to have to make a decision, or else you'll lose both of them." Adeline advised. Lorenzo had just left after I asked him to give me a little more time to think about what he had said. I needed time to settle in my new house. Adeline and her nanny had helped me move and arrange things as quickly as possible. Adeline, being the duchess, hired some men to help with most of the labour. The men worked hard all afternoon and evening long, moving boxes out of one room then another, setting up furniture and getting everything ready for my new life.
- "But, Marilyn, do you want something long term?" Adeline's random question did not shock me as much as it did years ago. "Adeline, I want to get married and have a family of my own." She looked shocked to hear those words come out of my mouth. I explained to her that I had run my race, I had understood the concept of freedom as being able to do the things that I love without disturbing anyone. I didn't care who I disturbed at first but then I realised that the life I was living wasn't going to sustain itself. Sitting on my childhood traumas wasn't going to heal the wounds either. What if I could start a family of my own? Give my children the life I never had? What if I found a purpose that could slowly turn my wounds into a testimony? Too easy to even be possible for me, and yet I couldn't deny that that was what I wanted.
