Chapter 20

  • Adeline's POV
  • "So, shall we order?" "Of course, please," I agreed. I was still shaken from everything, and I could tell Ethan could read my expression. Not only because he kept gazing at me, but because he started to assure me that nothing was going on between them. "Lucy and I had a relationship that leaned more on the sexual side. There was no connection even there," he said, "And what do you think the fate of our relationship will be?" I inquired. "You know it's different for us, sweetheart," I couldn't help blushing at his sentence. But it wasn't enough to rub off a side of him that I already saw in the pictures. He had been with many women before he met me. And still, the question stood as to why I had basically slept with him on our first encounter.
  • The evening went well. We had a few drinks and laughed over our meal. I told him stories about my life that were actually funny and interesting. He also got interested in my work - he wanted to learn about it. I felt bad for lying about how I made my money, even whilst I was drunk, I needed to fight being under the influence to mention my trail of lies. The challenge would have been trying to remember them later. I asked him a lot of questions and even offered some constructive criticism, especially concerning his passion for art and how he felt that the world was not ready enough to see it.
