Chapter 63
- Lorenzo's POV
- The police had called me out of Marilyn's house to fill in a statement and answer a few concerns concerning the relation of the victim to Rose Birdman. "Marilyn is friends with a former journalist and let's just say that this former celebrity has anger issues," I explained. When the two officers left, I turned around to head back in, hoping that Marilyn would agree to come be with me for the night.
- Standing on the porch, from the open window and into the living room, I could see just how cosied up she was with Conner. She was sobbing into his shirt and he was stroking her hair gently but firmly. Marilyn was so distraught that she'd even stopped trying to fight off the tears."It's okay, I got you, Marilyn," he said as she buried her face deeper into his chest. I felt my stomach lurch as my blood began to boil. I wanted to peach in but I knew I was late. If I asked her to come home with me then Conner would have begun to suspect that I was going out with his PA.
