Chapter 5
- Ethan's POV
- My break from work was in a few minutes. I sent my best friend a text message to meet me at the usual coffee shop that we both enjoyed. I was burning inside, I couldn't stop thinking about what she took from me, my dignity, my masculinity. I wanted to rip myself apart from that night. I was going to go crazy if I didn't speak to someone.
- I saw Enzo standing by his car, waiting to see some sign of distress in me because that's exactly how my text to him sounded in his head. He was like a younger brother to me, even though he believed that he always came to my rescue like a big brother did.
- Lorenzo Underwood, a twenty-seven-year-old young manager of his father's company, it was only a matter of time before he became the COO. I was proud of him, like me, he needed to prove that he was capable of handling such a job. Growing up together, we picked up a few lessons from each of our efforts.
- "Why don't you stop staring at me like a gay boy and tell me what's so urgent that you had to see me today!" he gave me a friendly hug. I tried my best to narrate the events of that day to him, but he concluded that I refused to accept that someone beat me at my own game. He wasn't right... or was he? He made a few jokes as we entered the coffee shop.
- As we were about to make our order whilst the waitress was flirting with Enzo like she usually did, I picked up the same scent... her scent. I thought the waitress had it on but when she leaned a little closer to me, I wasn't satisfied. My nose started to twitch a little.
- I needed to shut down my senses to spot it. I heard the door shut before I could raise my eyes to scan the place. "Give me a minute," I said to Enzo and stormed out of the place. I wasn't going to lose her. Enzo tried to stop me from understanding what was going on, but I didn't want anything to slow me down. I kept thinking about what I was going to do when I saw her. I wanted to hold her by her thin neck and pin her against the wall, I wanted to make her feel shameful.
- I made it out the door and I couldn't spot anyone in sight. I heard a motorbike from a distance. I got in my car before Enzo could try to stop me again. Driving slowly, I followed the scent. She couldn't have gone for it. Finally, I spotted the motorbike, parked. I was focused on the scent that I hadn't noticed and that I couldn't hear anymore.
- I drove even slower. Did she run off because she saw me first? I didn't want to scare her off, I wanted to corner her like a wounded fox in the woods somewhere. I parked somewhere in plain sight, I noticed a lady sitting on a bench, her hair covering her face and back. My bones hoped she was the one. I rolled my window down to take a closer look.
- "Bloody hell are you up to, Ethan?!" Enzo was standing there blocking my view, shit. I tried to move my head to see her, "Enzo, you don't understand, her scent-" Enzo shook me so hard that it pissed me off, I was looking at him dead in the eye. He said I was overreacting. I opened the door forcefully, causing him to fall on his butt.
- But she wasn't there anymore, she left. I ran to the bench, hoping for a clue, a note... something, she was playing with me. She left me nothing but her scent, again. I punched the thin air and rubbed my chin, disappointed in myself for acting like..."Freaking Bloodhound is ya?!" Enzo yelled as he walked to me, he took the words out of my mind, he had my attention "Tell me what's going on... because you're acting like a madman."
- I sighed, I told him that I didn't know her name, I wasn't sure if I even wanted to, she disrespected my personality and I wasn't going to let her go without putting up a fight. Enzo looked at me like I was overreacting, he told me that I was just a little sex-deprived and that whatever she did to me, any girl could do.
- There was nothing special about this one, right? I nodded; I was defeated again. I got back to my car, Enzo and I needed to finish our coffee break after all. He needed to tell me how he was doing too. I just knew that my mind wouldn't stop wandering off to something more... frustrating.
- ***
- I couldn't find the strength in me to leave my office early. My head hurt, from the paperwork, the meetings... that woman. When I shut my eyes, all I could think about were her hips pressing hard against mine, when she took my hands by force and placed them on her ass. Those thighs, those lips, that smile that seemed to know exactly what it did to me. She was beginning to sound like the absolute end of me.
- I was just trying to focus on my paperwork. All day I'd been stuck on the same damn thing. That woman. I couldn't get her face out of my mind, her body, her mouth. The way she looked at me. With hunger. With a desire so raw it made my heart skip a beat in fear. But also, with excitement. And she hadn't even said a word yet. Not one freaking word, she hadn't even tried to look at me.
- Enraged, I rose from my office chair and pushed the files off the desk. I looked at the mess I created and immediately regretted it. I heard a knock at the door, "Come in!" I spoke. It was Lucy, the girl that I had been caught in the magazine. "Hi, I called you all day and you hadn't returned any of my calls so I decided to come..." her voice was annoying me, I wanted someone to blame.
- "Who let you up here?"
