• Marilyn's POV
• I was forced to be at the office a little earlier than usual. I didn't know what to expect, especially given that Conner was taking up the office next to me. Upon my arrival, I found Jamie cleaning out her office in the most jolly way I had ever seen anyone do. When she noticed me, a big smile formed across her face as she spoke, "I got picked! I got the transfer agreement! My promotion from secretary to Mr. Underwood's PA is the best thing that's happened to me!"
• I smiled softly and congratulated her. She was delusional for thinking that was enough to win her a chance at sleeping with Lorenzo, but I didn't want to burst her bubble just yet. Regardless, she found backhanded comments to taunt me with, like how she was not only getting the PA promotion but also moving to the upper floor and leaving the rest of us at the bottom. Her friends walked in with tiny cups to celebrate with her. When one of them handed me a cup, I politely declined. Before I could give my reason, Conner called me from behind. "Good morning," he said. "Good morning, Mr. Parker..."
