• XANDER’S POV
• In a world that had gotten quite monotonous, Selene was my one bright spot. I did not know this until she disappeared from my life and I was faced with darkness. Now, all I wanted was to bask in the light she brought with her and never experience darkness again. She was the only one who made me feel like there was something in the future to look forward to, something fun and exciting, bigger and better than the Alpha title.
• Recently, it felt like an invisible wall had come between us and we were fighting at every turn. It was always about the same thing, about this girl named Lily. At first, perhaps due to the mate bond or mere human conscience, I had thought it would be okay for me to give her a couple of months to build her strength so she did not die after a rejection but with each day that passed, I felt I had made the wrong choice. I should have rejected her immediately. Whether she died or not would be her fault. I did not make her weak so why did her very existence have to interfere with my life like this? The joy I had only managed to now grasp was slowly slipping from me and it was all because of this girl named Lily.
