Chapter 59

• I was scared. My feelings for Xander had reached a dangerous level. I realized that after I came off the high of mixing fluids with him. Even though I knew better than to hold on, I was not ready to let go. The last shreds of my resolve had melted away the moment his lips touched mine and as I lay in his embrace, I was over the moon. It made me realize that I was not ready to let him go. Against my better judgment, I wanted to hold on to him. I wanted to fight for him despite knowing he was not mine to fight for. As we lay pressed up against each other, his arm around my shoulders and his fingers absentmindedly playing with my nipples, I felt happier than I had all week.
• “You are mine, Selene,” he muttered. “Stop talking or even thinking of mating with someone else. It drives me crazy.”
• “Do you know how I feel knowing you already met someone else?” I shuffled closer to him to absorb more of his body’s heat. “Even though you met someone else, my heart still skips a beat when you say I’m yours. What are you doing to me, Xander?”
