Chapter 56
- “Selene,” he called my name with a slight hitch in his voice. It made my heart start to pound.
- I did not know what to expect when I saw Xander again but this was not it. I did not expect him to look so scruffy, his stubble untrimmed and his eyes sunken. It looked like he had been through hell and back in the three days that we were apart. The hope I did not want to entertain brought out its head and made my heart pound even harder, to the point where Xander had to ask this question.
- “Are you scared?” He asked and all I could do was swallow as I looked at him. “Tell me if you are scared. I am too.” His eyes were hunted, dark and solemn.
