Chapter 55

• There was no other option than for me to ignore Xander. It was not as if I could stop the inevitable but I wanted to try. I had told myself many times that I would enjoy the time I got to spend with Xander and would let him go to his mate when the time came but it was too soon. It was just the other day that I made this declaration to myself, just the other day I gave myself to him wholeheartedly so why did this woman have to come out of nowhere? Why did she have to come now when I was only starting to bask in Xander’s affections?
• Against my better judgment, I found myself holding on to him, not wanting to let him go. It was the same thing the Selene in the books would have done and despite vowing not to be like her, I suppose Xander was just too addictive, for me and for her.
• That morning, I turned on my phone and the first thing I did was check my messages from Xander. It had been three days since he found his mate in the hallway of our dormitory and in those three days, I had avoided him at all costs. I did not see him and when he came to see me, I did not answer the door. I did not take any of his calls nor did I respond to any of his messages.
