Chapter 29
- Disturbed as I was about the next step with Xander, it was no surprise I struggled with sleep. A week had passed but despite avoiding him, it was hard to get him off my mind and it was especially so that night. It was already three in the morning and I was left with my thoughts, heavy eyes that would not close, and an insane amount of thoughts that had no conclusions.
- When I heard a knock on my door, I figured it was my imagination. Who would come to knock at such an ungodly hour? When the knock came again, I forced my heavy body out of bed and went to get the door.
- “Who is it?” My tired mind was opening the door before I got a response and on the other side of the door stood the object of my sleepless night. “What are you doing here, Xander?” I asked, all the exhaustion I felt resonating in my tone.
