Chapter 217
- "Sir." Sidney's voice made Leopold's eyes dart deadly toward him, because how dare he interrupt them when they were having a discussion between man and wife. Regina's breath froze inside of her chest at the sound of Sidney's voice. "She's telling the truth, Mr. White. She has been with Daniel, and didn't go anywhere else. He picked her up and dropped her off in time for dinner."
- Leopold's grip remained harsh behind Regina's neck, it was sure to bruise. He didn't say anything to Sidney, he simply looked back at Regina with daggers in his eyes. His face drew in an inch closer, and he took a whiff against her hair, picking up the scent of hay, dirt, and stables. Nothing more. The sound of him drawing in a sharp breath would always haunt Regina. Her eyes looked back into his as he drew back.
- Finally, Regina felt his grip loosen from behind her neck, allowing her to massage that area. She watched him carefully as Leopold silently walked over to the table where he had placed his glass to reach for it before turning back to her.
