Chapter 216

• Regina made her way inside, the lights to the foyer already on, her heels clicked against the marbled floor as she made her way past the staircase and small well lit hallway that would lead her into the living room. She reached for her phone, and her brows furrowed. There was a text from Sophia asking if she had arrived home okay, but there were also two missed calls. Her thumb hovered over the missed calls notification at the top bar and imagine her surprise when Leopold's name was displayed followed by a number two in parentheses.
• What surprised her next and possibly startled her all the more was when one of the lamps beside the couch flicked on, for her to find Leopold was sitting patiently and angrily on the couch. He had been waiting for her.
• "You scared me." Regina breathed, clutching her phone to her chest. Her thumb quickly pressed the power button to shut off her screen. "When did you get home?"
