Chapter 233

• Nate’s POV
• After the conversation with my father, and after he had left, I was left with a lot of confusing thoughts. Even though some of what dad had explained to me had made some sense, some had just made me more confused, for one, it wasn’t my fault that I was born in the first place, which gave him zero rights to treat me the way he did throughout those years, all because he didn’t love my mother and loved Eric’s mother. There was also the confusion over how he was willing to send me into a marriage without any kind of love in it, the same way his father did, just for the benefit of the company.
• It made it seem like that marriage was the sacrifice I was also going to have to make for the inheritance, the same way his father made him do, and that didn’t make a lot of sense in my head. I mean, I used to think he was a mean person, but I didn’t realize it was to that very extent until the conversation I had with him this afternoon.
