Chapter 97

• Alessandra looked at the results of the tests she had done that morning for the thousandth time and felt as if the oxygen had stopped entering her lungs when she finally realized and understood the gravity of what was happening to her. She sat down abruptly in one of the chairs in the clinic's waiting room and began to cry inconsolably. GOD ALMIGHTY, SHE WAS PREGNANT, it couldn't be possible. She was two months pregnant, with none other than the biggest heartbreaker of all time, Dominic Lombardo.
• "How could this happen? How?" she wondered, "I was careful during the short time we were together."
• The world seemed to collapse around her as she thought about how her life would change, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. There was no turning back.
