Chapter 26

• The day dawned just as Dominic wished, sunny. He couldn't delay his work matters any longer, that trip to Hong Kong was a done deal and he shouldn't postpone it any longer, although deep down, he longed to stay at home. For some strange reason, his last two days there were peaceful. He had a sense of peace that he had never felt before, and it was all because of one person, Alessandra.
• Early on that bright but cold morning, Alessandra set off for the company with one of Dominic's drivers. She would pick up her car and then head to her apartment to pack for her unexpected trip, which excited her. Even though it was for work reasons, she was happy to know that she would be going to a new place, meeting new people, and most of all, going with him. It made her stomach flutter. But she kept those emotions to herself. What she was beginning to feel had no future, and she didn't want it to grow, let alone come to light.
• After noon, when everything was ready, Alessandra nervously drove to the airport. Her first trip outside and on a jet, wow, that would be quite an adventure. Despite never having flown before, she wasn't afraid. On the contrary, she was eager, desperate to arrive, to see him. She was dressed casually but still formal, wearing a white dress shirt with long sleeves that matched dark pink dress pants, pointed shoes in the same tone but not too high, her hair styled in a delicate half ponytail, natural makeup, and pink lipstick for a change.
