Chapter 96

• The following three weeks tested Cielo's patience to the limit. Cain made it his mission to shadow her wherever she went. He moved back to the bedroom, against his doctor's orders. The only respite she got from him was when he was undergoing physical therapy. During those times, Ruben would keep an eye on him while she completed training sessions with Leroy. They learned the hard way that Cain didn't react well when Leroy was actively trying to attack her; it was even worse when they tried it with Mia. He still didn't fully trust Mia, but what she did to him was admittedly a low blow.
• The day before the "coronation", after a practice session, Cielo was determined to take a shower before picking up Cain. Leroy ended the session early so he and Mia could prepare their outfits for the big day. After all, it was also a significant day for Leroy. He was to be inducted as the official Head Guard of the Beast Kingdom. Mia had enthusiastically declined any royal assignment, so she was making sure Leroy looked his best.
• Cielo headed back to her room to change out of her workout clothes and shower. She was on her phone, texting her mother about any final preparations. Her mother was currently having a meltdown over Xander's tux. They were also announcing Xander taking over as Alpha King at the party. It wouldn't be his coronation, but it was still an important moment in his life. They had planned to wait until he had found a mate, but with all that had happened, her father thought it was time for a positive change to take place. Cielo wasn't arguing since it was diverting some of the attention off her.
