• "Where could she be?" Cain demanded, his gaze locked on Cielo's frightened friend. His inner beast was urging him to release it so that it could extract the truth from her.
• "I've told you over and over, I don't know," the friend responded, taking refuge behind Cain's weary-looking brother. "I've already shared everything - how I conversed with the Grand Chancellor and his plans for her. After that, she vanished."
• Cain growled loudly in frustration, causing everyone in the room to flinch in submission. He ran his fingers through his hair, "Did she mention anything else?"
