• Once Cielo was secure in his arms, Cain dared another glance at the gruesome sight. The body of a man lay at their feet, clearly dragged here with the intention of being discovered in this exact state. His face had been scratched beyond recognition. From his chest to his waist, the name "Cielo" had been carved into his flesh in bold letters. To say that Damian had suffered a psychotic break seemed like an understatement.
• "Come on, let's go check on Leroy," he told her, guiding her away from the horrifying sight. Damian had wanted her to find the body like this, to shake her to her core. He knew she would be coming...
• His grip tightened as they approached Leroy. "Leroy, car," he instructed, nodding towards the vehicle. Leroy wiped his mouth and nodded, his eyes on Cielo's pale form. Without a word, he rose and joined them as they made their way back to the car through the underbrush.
