Chapter 24
- The grip of her father tightens, and the realization hits Cain: Cielo was the last person to see his brother alive. "That doesn't provide me any solace, Cielo," he confesses.
- "Yet the reality remains that I tore the throat of that monster, so justice has been meted out," Cielo retorts. Her words cause Cain to recoil; the graphic image she paints incites both anger and a sickening feeling. "Furthermore, Exzel could claim justification for a war since his son was killed by me."
- "Cielo," Marcus cautions, "you're not making it any better."
