Chapter 84

• Cain's dreams were filled with nothing but endless smoke, cycling through his nightmares again and again; reliving his hellish poisoning to the point of madness. Each time he saw her face, she would vanish. She hadn't been taken from him, had she? The maroon beast couldn't be right, could it? He pleaded silently for his Cielo. He needed to know she hadn't left him.
• His nightmare filtered through another cycle. It started with a text from Leroy. "Cielo smells Damian. I'm with her, but she won't wait in the car." The cold dread he felt from that one text was still fresh in his mind. He quickly turned on his heel, only to be met with a closed fist to his jaw. Five soldiers stood in front of the door, blocking him from his Cielo. That monster was in the same vicinity as her. He knew it was only a matter of time before he tried to take her from him. He was always trying to take her from him.
• Rajin and his rage broke at that thought. He shifted in mere seconds before massacring them; their blood drenching his fur and spattering the walls. No one was a whole person when he was through with them.
