• Marcus growls, struggling to get past him, but Cain stands his ground. "Let her work," he insists, finally releasing Marcus as he pushes him back. His mind is in turmoil, but he needs to keep Marcus composed and ensure Dr. Benson can focus all her attention on treating Cielo.
• Marcus growls again, pacing back and forth while tugging at his hair. "What happened to her?" he demands.
• Cain forces himself to remain collected, although he yearns for retribution against every rogue involved in these attacks. "I found her taking down a rogue lycan. She was ambushed from behind by another while she was finishing her kill. He was intending to claim her, so I had to intervene before he could mark her. After I took care of that wretched lycan, I found her unshifted and lying motionless in her kill's blood. Wherever the blood touched, she was severely burned. The burns were caused by Wolfsbane, and the rogue she had killed was saturated with it."
