Chapter 69
- "A blood oath is something almost as ancient as the moon goddess," she begins, refusing to take her eyes off the foolish king. "It's something wolves used to do to bind themselves to their alphas to show their unconditional loyalty. The blood oath strengthens the pack link so greatly, that an alpha could end the life of a packmate by killing that packmate's beast if they deemed it necessary. It was how traitors of the pack were dealt with, so rogues were a rare occurrence.
- "This was never an issue unless the alpha became corrupt. As territories grew, and packs strengthened, battles for more land increased. Tensions rose as did paranoia and conspiracy. Alphas started to mercilessly kill their entire pack if they even suspected that one of their pack members so much as even talked to a member of a neighboring pack. The reason why a blood oath is strictly forbidden these days is due to cases such as that.
- "The deciding case is just as infamous as the others. One of the largest packs at that time was strong, the dream of every alpha. The young alpha was beloved by its members. He had just inherited the pack from his father, and he had found his mate. His mate was an omega, and he despised this fact. He thought it must be a mistake. He was the strongest alpha in history, and he was paired with such a weakling that a mistake seemed to be the only explanation. He was cruel to her behind closed doors, trying desperately to make her into a strong Luna, someone worthy of being with him.
