Chapter 31

• Cain's entire body trembled, yearning to return to her. He desperately needed her presence, as calm eluded him. His regret for having kissed her ate at him. The vivid image of their lips locked together was ingrained in his mind. Her taste was everything to him. His skin still tingled at the spots where Cielo had touched him. He longed for her, even though she was merely a few steps away.
• His inner beast was restless. It had sensed her wolf when they kissed. Her wolf seemed worn out, which put Rajin on high alert. Rajin wanted him to return to Cielo, as he was concerned about her wolf's lack of response. After what he had just said to her, going back to her wasn't an option. Yet, he had a feeling that he would encounter her wolf later.
• Slipping into the Tesla Model S that he had managed to have delivered to Cielo's place after their arrival, he wished it had come before she had left. That would have kept that intolerable lycan from being anywhere near her. His hands tightened around the steering wheel, and he had to restrain himself from snapping it. The idea of the lycan getting close to her, even talking to her, infuriated him. Her ex was unbearable, but his position was too influential for Cain to take him down without repercussions. He doubted even Cielo could save him if he crossed that line.
