Chapter 31

  • Zachary could not quite make up his mind whether he should be pleased or disappointed with the outcome of the situation. Should he be pleased that Eleanor had been so kind to the point that she was ready to conceal all of the unfair treatment that he had meted out to her? Instead, should he be depressed that she never stopped finding reasons to be on his side? Since this dispute arose, many questions, perplexity, and uncertainties had been planted in his mind and heart, and he had no way of knowing what to deal with them.
  • He was aware that she was only assisting him in maintaining his ego and face in front of the other people, but he was concerned about how long Eleanor would be able to maintain her composure once she discovered that she was the daughter of the people he believed to be his deadliest enemies. In addition, there was the concern that if Eleanor still accepted him despite all of the heartbreaks that he was causing her, how long could she possibly remain by his side in that situation. Would she be able to accept him as her mate if she learned the truth about her true identity from him? What if she did not care and love him as much as she does now?
  • Nonetheless, Zachary was relieved that he had been able to come and disrupt the proceedings just as Marcus was about to reveal or hint at his true identity to Eleanor, among all of the other happenings. Zachary was aware that Marcus was aware that Eleanor was a werewolf, but he had no clue that she was his mate until he met her. Another thing, he was confident that, at the time of writing, Marcus was still uninformed that Eleanor was the daughter of Patrick Range and Colleen White, both of whom Marcus despises as individuals. By this point, he had gotten to know Marcus well enough to recognize that he would go to any length to exact vengeance on them. In light of this, he was well aware that if Marcus discovered that Eleanor was the missing daughter of his proclaimed adversary, he would not be kind, and the likelihood that he would use Eleanor as bait to face Patrick Range would be considerable.
