• I let out a grunt, feeling defeated. I couldn't argue with someone who knew me as well as he did. I grunted again when I saw his satisfied smile, finished dinner, and then went to my room, grabbing my phone as I fell onto the bed, sending two more messages to different recipients before settling under the blankets and falling asleep.
• I hang up the phone and run my fingers through my hair. Thanks to my knowledge of Japanese, I spent time talking to someone from a company in Japan who wanted Christian to visit them to approve some papers. I managed to get them to send a copy of the papers for me to deliver to him.
