Chapter 19
- Upon hearing an accusing voice near my ear, I jump, dropping the invitation to the floor. Embarrassed and with a burning face, I pick it up and put it back in the cream"colored envelope as Christian looked at me with his curious gray eyes."
- "It's right if it's one that has my name on it," I reply, pretending to be calm as I show him the envelope where my name was written in neat handwriting.
- His eyes shift from my flushed face to the envelope as he furrows his brow. He technically knew every wedding that was organized on this floor, and the fact that the invitation was for the same one he had sent me to organize was no coincidence. But what could he do? Even Mike had told me that if I wanted, I could ask someone else to do it when he himself had drawn his own conclusions. But the issue was that Christian himself, who had given me this event even though I was just his secretary and he had thousands of other companies to focus on, was now standing in front of me, trying to connect the dots and form conclusions as to why I had an invitation while his gaze did not leave me and I felt the seconds ticking slowly.
