Chapter 21
- I didn't fully feel the next blows because a part of me couldn't process why he was doing this to me, why he was hurting me like this. I kept my promise as best as I could, I ran away from everything I knew, I moved because Allie said it was the best thing to do, so why was he hurting me? I ended up in a fetal position on broken glass from what seemed to be a bottle, in a desperate attempt to escape, I began to crawl towards where people were when I felt him pulling my legs, causing the skin of my abdomen to scrape against the glass.
- "Approach her again and you won't leave alive."
- He gave me one last kick in the stomach, stealing my breath. I counted the seconds until I assumed he had really left, thinking that all of this was my fault for trusting too much that this wouldn't happen to me again. I couldn't say Anne was to blame because I assumed she had only mentioned the idea of going out to eat, but now I knew he had taken her phone to send the message.
